The cloud is a metaphor for the Internet based on how the internet is described in computer network diagrams; which means it is an abstraction hiding the complex infrastructure of the internet.[1] It is a style of computing in which IT-related capabilities are provided “as a service”,[2] allowing users to access technology-enabled services from the Internet ("in the cloud")[3] without knowledge of, or control over the technologies behind these servers.4]

CO-EMPLOYMENT

Co-employment is the arrangement by contract between a client and an employment organization where the employment organization provides a complete range of services and shares many employment liabilities.

Co-sourcing earns advantage over Total Outsourcing in a way that it minimises sourcing risks, brings in transparency, clarity and better control over the processes outsourced.

Examples of co-sourcing services are supplementing the in-house internal audit staff with specialised skill such as information risk management or integrity services, providing routine assistance to in-house auditing for operations and control evaluations in peak period activity and conduct special projects such as fraud investigation or plant investment appraisals.

MULTISOURCING

Multi-sourcing in layman’s term, is the use of a number of outsourcing suppliers rather than just one.

Note that there’s a main challenge of multi-sourcing and that is ensuring that the vendors or suppliers work together to achieve a common objective for the client, without the client having to spend a lot of time and effort on Contract Management. A common approach is to use Vendor Cooperation Agreements which set out the obligations and ground rules for how Suppliers will work together.

It’s the closely controlled blending of internal and external staff. Using this method a company can outsource business and IT functions to various providers while still maintaining many tasks for internal employees, combining the benefits of each.

Multi-sourcing is also sometimes referred as selective sourcing.

NEARSHORING

The relocating of jobs to bordering countries in order to eliminate language, culture, and time zone barriers. For businesses located in the United States nearshoring includes Canada and Mexico. Nearshoring can be outsourced or remain within the organization.

OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT CENTER (ODC)

Simply refers to something occurring or being located away from a particular place.

ON-SITE

Simply refers to something occurring or being located at a specific site. On-site is also sometimes referred to as at-site.

ONLINE OUTSOURCING

Is the internet-based version of outsourcing. This process is when one department, or indeed a whole area of work, transfers tasks and projects to a third party company.

As they can be easily achieved through the internet, it is mostly services within IT and Marketing that are most often sourced out to a third party. Examples of such tasks could be programming and web design, multi-media production, logo design or search engine optimization not forgetting services like translations, research and editorial work. In this case, online platforms can serve to simplify the process of attaining and assigning projects (see online outsourcing in practice).

With Nearshoring the latter is, as the name suggests, relocation closer to home.[1]

ONSHORE OUTSOURCING

Acquiring BPO and ITO services from companies within the same country. Onshore outsourcing is also known as domestic outsourcing. Onshore is used to describe delivery center location in the client’s own country.

OUTSOURCE STAFFING

An organization provides qualified employees to supplement another company′s workforce. Outsource staffing hires employees based on specific customer needs and pricing to meet each company′s requirements.

OUTSOURCE MARKETING
